I think any type of love requires patience, trust, understanding, and effort. To me, love means being truly involved in each other’s lives rather than simply being around one another. It’s about treating each other with kindness and care, making an effort to understand how the other person feels loved, and recognizing when they need a little extra support. It means meeting each other halfway and celebrating one another through both the good and difficult moments. I don’t believe it’s anyone else’s responsibility to make me happy; happiness is something I have to find within myself. Love should add to my life, not become the only source of my happiness. Romantically speaking, I also don’t believe love is something you simply “fall into.” I think it’s something you choose every day, through the little things you do to care for, understand, and show up for another person.
